The Schreibmotorik Institut at didacta 2017
To find new ways for exchanging ideas and future education – that was what motivated 85,000 visitors and 860 exhibitors from 47 countries at didacta. The Schreibmotorik Institut presented the Handwriting 2020 campaign, a joint project together with the Didacta Association for the promotion of handwriting.
At their well-visited trade fair stall, the Schreibmotorik Institut team provided practical tips and advice regarding any and all questions regarding learning handwriting. All those who were interested were able to try out the relevant exercise materials for themselves and discover the functions of the SchreibCoach writing analysis tool. On Friday, 17 February, the Schreibmotorik Institut appeared at an extra stall at the Bildungskongress der kommunalen Landesverbände [municipal state associations’ education conference].
“Handwriting 2020” campaign
Half of school-age boys and a third of girls have problems with handwriting. This is according to a teacher survey conducted by the Schreibmotorik Institut and the German Union of Teachers in 2015. For this reason, the Didacta Association and the non-profit Schreibmotorik Institut e.V. launched the “Handwriting 2020” campaign. The aim is to work together with partners to establish an extensive programme for promoting handwriting in childcare centres and schools by 2020. The alliance sees itself as an open union that will gladly take on more partners.
Scribble mentors for kindergarten children
One “Handwriting 2020” campaign project is the scribble mentor. Employees from various companies motivate and support kindergarten children to help them gain experience with pen and paper, which will make it easier for them to transition to writing later on. With playful exercises, scribble mentors help the children and at the same time awake in them the joy of experimenting and the desire to write in the future!
